In-Room Dining Order Taker (Local Hire)

About the role

The In-Room Dining Order Taker provides courteous, professional, and efficient service to hotel guests by taking food and beverage orders via telephone, posting them in the POS system, and ensuring seamless communication with the kitchen and service teams. This role supports the Food & Beverage department of a luxury hotel in Accra, aiming to maximise guest satisfaction and drive sales.

Key responsibilities

• Take guest orders by telephone, accurately enter them into the POS system and coordinate with wait staff and minibar attendants.
• Maintain punctuality, proper uniform, grooming standards and personal hygiene as per hotel policy.
• Provide excellent conversation and selling techniques, upsell menu items and suggest alternatives.
• Monitor supplies, reduce waste, and ensure the work area remains clean and organised.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, handle guest enquiries and complaints, and report feedback to supervisors.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings and inventory checks, and support secondary duties assigned by the Department Head.

Required profile

• HND/Degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a Food & Beverage service role.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Professional, confidential and ethical approach at all times.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Ability to operate computer and office equipment.
• Experience using a POS (Point‑of‑Sale) system.
