Internal Audit Manager – Africa Region

About the role

The Internal Audit Manager will lead Africa‑wide internal audit activities for Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, ensuring robust risk‑based audit coverage across the region’s operations and capital projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Africa internal audit plan using risk‑based methodologies, aligning with global audit objectives.
• Plan, execute, and report on audits of major capital projects, contract compliance, and operational controls.
• Supervise and mentor the Africa IA team, overseeing training, performance, and career development.
• Coordinate field audit activities, manage travel logistics, and serve as the primary liaison with site and regional management.
• Prepare audit reports, present findings to senior leadership, and ensure follow‑up actions are tracked.
• Conduct Sarbanes‑Oxley testing and ensure adherence to the Internal Audit Charter and Manual.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal audit, preferably within the mining or heavy‑industry sector.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop audit staff.
• Strong understanding of risk‑based audit planning and global audit standards.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with senior management and presenting audit results.
• Ability to travel across the Africa region as required.
