Line Cook – Upscale Hotel, Resort or Cruise Ship

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Line Cook to work in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship or convention banqueting service. The successful candidate will prepare menu items, maintain high standards of food safety and support the kitchen team across all stations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare all basic food items for the menu as directed by the supervisor.
• Demonstrate advanced knife handling skills.
• Work efficiently in any kitchen section.
• Apply solid food knowledge and understand culinary terminology.
• Read, interpret and follow company recipes accurately.
• Complete tasks efficiently and productively.
• Adhere to public health standards (US, Anvisa, Shipsan, Canadian, Australian, etc.) within the assigned area.
• Maintain the work area for announced or unannounced health inspections.
• Report for duty on time, follow supervisor instructions, and uphold uniform and personal hygiene standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years experience in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship or convention banqueting service, with at least 2 years as a Line Cook (shipboard experience preferred).
• Culinary school degree.
• Strong management abilities in a multicultural, dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, decision‑making and people skills.
• Superior customer service, team‑building and conflict‑resolution capabilities.
• Knowledge of personalized service principles, quality standards and guest satisfaction techniques.
• Proven planning, coaching, organizing, staffing, controlling and evaluating skills.
• Intermediate computer software proficiency.
