Manager, Project Controls

About the role

The Manager, Project Controls leads project control functions for the Africa Business Unit at Obuasi Mine, ensuring cost, schedule, risk and change management are integrated across all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain comprehensive project controls frameworks covering cost, schedule, risk and change management.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, cost baselines, cash‑flow forecasts and conduct variance analysis.
• Create and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, performing critical path analysis.
• Implement standardized progress measurement methods and provide dashboards on key performance indicators.
• Manage risk registers, change orders and contingency usage to protect project financials.
• Oversee document management systems to ensure version control and accessibility.
• Prepare executive project control reports and dashboards for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance or related field.
• PMP certification required; additional project controls or cost engineering certifications advantageous.
• 10‑12 years of progressive experience in project controls, cost management or scheduling, preferably in mining or large‑scale construction.
• Proven ability to manage multiple $50M+ CAPEX projects through all lifecycle stages.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• In‑depth knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost forecasting.
• Experience with ERP/project control systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• High‑level Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI or similar BI tools.
