Mechanical Supervisor – Processing Plant

About the role

The Mechanical Supervisor for the Processing Plant is responsible for overseeing maintenance of the Sewage Treatment Plant, Water Treatment facility and Tailings Storage Facility at the Obuasi Gold Mine. The role ensures plant availability, safety, environmental compliance and cost‑effective operation while supporting the company’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the integrated maintenance team, providing technical guidance on safety, HSE regulations and environmental standards.
• Plan, schedule and monitor mechanical refurbishment, construction and preventive maintenance activities using SAP and the AGA Asset Management Plan.
• Review and sign off mechanical designs, execution plans, testing, commissioning and handover documentation.
• Manage contractors and internal workforce to meet cost, schedule and quality targets, and ensure compliance with government approvals.
• Develop and maintain a two‑year maintenance plan, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate budgeting, cost‑reduction initiatives and reporting of mechanical performance metrics.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, environmental management plans and Cyanide Code certification requirements.
• Ability to develop processes, recruit and train staff, and manage a skills matrix and succession planning.
• Excellent communication skills to convey policies, procedures and performance expectations.
