Porter – Hostel Security & Guest Services

About the role

The Porter will be the first point of contact at the hostel, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors. Working on a shift basis, the role combines security duties with guest‑service support in a dynamic hospitality setting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the main entrance, verify identities of residents and visitors, and maintain visitor logs.
• Conduct regular patrols of the hostel premises to identify safety issues and maintenance needs.
• Assist students with luggage during check‑in and check‑out periods.
• Enforce hostel rules on curfew, noise levels, and visitor access.
• Respond to security incidents or disturbances and report them to the Hostel Manager.
• Ensure main gates and security doors are locked or monitored at designated times.

Required profile

• West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or equivalent.
• Prior experience as a security guard, porter, or warden is highly preferred.
• Physically fit, alert, and able to work night and weekend shifts.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Basic security monitoring and patrol techniques.
