Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) – Senior Academic Leader

About the role

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) serves as the chief academic advisor to the Vice-Chancellor and Council, overseeing all academic and student matters across the university. Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, this senior leader drives the strategic direction of teaching, research, and service programmes at undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance to Academic Deans and faculty members.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, statutes, and national higher‑education regulations.
• Collaborate with Deans and Programme Directors to maintain and enhance programme quality.
• Recommend appointments of academic staff for teaching and research positions.
• Chair statutory committees as required by university statutes.
• Develop and implement the university’s academic vision and strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Professorial rank with extensive experience in teaching, research, and university administration.
• PhD holder with a strong record of scholarly achievement and academic leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to work collegially with administration, faculty, students, and external partners.
• Experience in senior academic roles, at least at the level of Dean.
• Understanding of emerging instructional technologies and contemporary higher‑education issues.
