Project Lead, Fibre Network Implementation

About the role

The Project Lead, Fibre Network Implementation will coordinate and execute fibre and terminal equipment optimisation projects for MTN. Reporting to the Manager of Fibre Network Implementation, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed field implementation plans for aerial and ground fibre deployment, including procedures and responsibilities.
• Prepare and analyse Technical Site Survey reports, high‑level and low‑level designs, and related drawings.
• Coordinate schedules, monitor inventory, manage procurement and oversee all installation works on both OSP and ISP networks.
• Maintain project trackers, generate weekly progress reports and lead project review meetings.
• Implement MTN Quality Control and HSE programmes on site and verify all documentation before project closure.
• Prepare RFPs, Bill of Quantities and manage procurement activities for ISP/OSP projects.
• Identify, escalate and mitigate project risks, and conduct basic troubleshooting on IP/Ethernet/SDH/WDM/Optical networks.
• Supervise critical activities such as ducting, backfilling, cable tensioning, blowing and re‑instatement.
• Conduct ATP, sign‑off with contractors and support service migration with minimal impact.
• Coordinate vendor teams, manage inter‑dependencies and ensure compliance with change‑management processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading fibre network implementation projects in a telecom environment.
• Strong understanding of OSP and ISP network activities and related regulatory requirements.
• Ability to manage project cost, governance and asset registration.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and stakeholder‑management skills.
