Roaming Manager – Consumer Marketing

About the role

The Roaming Manager will lead the optimisation of MTN’s international roaming agreements, ensuring seamless voice, data and messaging connectivity for customers travelling abroad while maximising wholesale and retail roaming revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate commercial roaming and wholesale agreements (e.g., Inter‑Operator Tariff, discount deals) with global mobile operators.
• Monitor roaming and IDD traffic, adjust rates and implement revenue‑optimisation strategies to meet profit targets.
• Manage relationships with roaming partners, Bayobab, NextGen, BICS, GSMA, NCA and ensure timely information flow across the organisation.
• Oversee network testing and launch of new roaming destinations, covering 2G/3G, 4G/VoLTE, 5G, M2M and eSIM technologies.
• Coordinate platform management with engineering, billing/IT and external clearing houses to guarantee efficient signalling and billing processes.
• Support testing, onboarding and configuration of roaming partners, collaborating with network and IT teams on new technology deployments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in telecom roaming, wholesale agreements and partner management.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret traffic data and drive revenue optimisation.
• Excellent negotiation and commercial acumen.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, billing, IT and external partners.
• Familiarity with regulatory environments governing international roaming.
