Senior Accountant

About the role

The Ghana Communication Technology University is seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to lead its financial and accounting functions. This senior‑level position will support the university’s strategic objectives by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and effective fiscal management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all financial and accounting activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and month‑end close.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and memos for external assessment.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, statutory regulations, and professional accounting standards.
• Coordinate audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and promote best practices in financial management.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting (regular track).
• Chartered Accountant status and membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., ICA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum of four years of post‑appointment experience as a Senior Accountant within a university setting.
• Demonstrated experience preparing at least five external assessment reports or memos.
