Senior Backend Engineer - Asset Sales

About the role

Join M-KOPA's expanding engineering team as a Senior Backend Engineer in the Asset Sales group. You will build distributed, event‑driven microservices that power financial inclusion for everyday earners across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate C#/.NET microservices on Azure using Kubernetes and an event‑driven architecture.
• Own the full lifecycle of services—from idea, implementation, deployment, to production monitoring and iteration.
• Implement robust patterns such as idempotency, retries, and out‑of‑order event handling.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, using incidents to improve system resilience.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineer who is curious, autonomous and highly trusted.
• Comfortable owning the entire software stack and measuring success by production outcomes.
• Effective collaborator in distributed, multi‑time‑zone teams.

Required skills

• C# and .NET development.
• Event‑driven systems (Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Microservices architecture on Azure and Kubernetes.
• Observability tools such as Grafana and Azure Application Insights.
• AI tooling (e.g., Claude) integrated into design, code review, testing and incident investigation.
• DevOps mindset with on‑call/production ownership.
