Senior Finance Officer

About the role

The Senior Finance Officer will lead the finance function of a health insurance provider, ensuring accurate financial planning, reporting, and regulatory compliance. This role demands a proactive leader who can translate data into strategic decisions that support growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Lead the budgeting process, financial forecasts and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, tax laws and NHIA guidelines.
• Monitor cash flow, manage treasury functions and optimise working capital.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure successful audit outcomes.
• Mentor and manage the finance team, fostering high performance and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field (Master’s a plus).
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ICAG, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum 4 years progressive finance/accounting experience, preferably in health insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles and statutory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and leadership abilities.
