Internal Audit Manager

About the role

The Internal Audit Manager will support ActionAid Ghana in establishing and maintaining effective internal control systems, safeguarding assets and ensuring optimal use of resources to achieve organisational goals. The role works closely with the ActionAid International Internal Audit Team and reports to the Board Finance and Audit Sub‑Committee.

Key responsibilities

• Apply internal auditing techniques across all functions and continuously improve systems to enhance accountability.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, safeguard assets, and provide reliable management information for decision‑making.
• Develop and execute audit plans, conduct audits, and issue timely reports to senior management.
• Provide capacity‑building support to staff and partners on financial and accountability systems.
• Coordinate organisational risk‑management strategic planning and monitor implementation of audit recommendations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting or related field and membership of a recognised professional accounting body (ICAG, ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
• At least 5 years of relevant financial management or internal audit experience (or 10 years with a first degree).
• Experience managing financial aspects of development projects funded by partners such as DFID, EC or UN.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of accounting software (SUN Accounting, Vision Executive).
• Strong understanding of internal controls, budgeting and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Familiarity with regional and international accounting standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit methodologies (internal and external).
