Senior Gender & Social Inclusion Officer

About the role

The Gender and Social Inclusion Officer will ensure that Asante's Resettlement Action Plan for the Bibiani Gold Mine is implemented in a gender‑sensitive, socially inclusive and equitable manner, safeguarding the rights of Project Affected Persons, especially vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Bibiani Resettlement Gender Action Plan, ensuring gender‑sensitive processes for physical relocation and economic displacement.
• Support the review, implementation and monitoring of the Resettlement Action Plan, providing technical input on compensation and livelihood restoration.
• Identify and map vulnerable groups, including female‑headed households, older persons and persons with disabilities, and ensure grievance mechanisms are accessible.
• Lead community mobilisation and sensitisation on resettlement entitlements, serving as the gender focal point within the Resettlement and Community Relations Team.
• Track and report on gender and social inclusion indicators, ensuring compliance with IFC Performance Standard 5 and Ghanaian mining regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, Development Studies or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in community development, resettlement or social performance, preferably in the mining sector in Ghana.
• Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standard 5 and Ghana’s Minerals and Mining Regulations on land acquisition and involuntary resettlement.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct gender analysis and integrate findings into project planning.
• Excellent negotiation, mediation and facilitation skills in high‑pressure resettlement contexts.
