Senior Gender & Social Inclusion Officer

About the role

The Gender and Social Inclusion (GSI) Officer will ensure that the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for AGBL is implemented in a gender‑sensitive, socially inclusive, and equitable manner. The officer will safeguard the rights and interests of Project Affected Persons (PAPs), focusing on vulnerable groups such as women, older persons, persons with disabilities and economically marginalized households.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the Bibiani Resettlement Gender Action Plan, applying a gender‑sensitive lens throughout relocation and economic displacement phases.
• Support review, implementation and monitoring of the RAP to ensure gender‑sensitive and socially inclusive outcomes, including community mobilisation and compensation processes.
• Identify and map vulnerable groups, ensure grievance mechanisms are accessible and safe, and oversee collection of gender‑disaggregated data.
• Participate in community sensitisation programmes and serve as the gender focal point within the Resettlement and Community Relations Team.
• Track and report on social performance of the resettlement project, ensuring compliance with IFC Performance Standard 5 and related regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development or related field; Master’s degree or post‑graduate certification is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in community development, resettlement or social performance roles, preferably in the mining sector in Ghana.
• Strong understanding of IFC Performance Standard 5 and Ghanaian mining regulations on land acquisition and involuntary resettlement.
• Proven ability to conduct gender analysis and integrate findings into project planning.
