Senior Specialist – Long Term Mine Planning

About the role

The Senior Specialist – Long Term Mine Planning is responsible for developing and maintaining the Life‑of‑Mine plan that underpins business planning, capital allocation and resource development decisions at the Obuasi Gold Mine. Reporting to the Manager – Planning, the role provides technical leadership, mentorship and governance over long‑term planning processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Life‑of‑Mine plan, including reserve conversion, capital strategy, cut‑off grade analysis and integration of new project evaluations.
• Lead scenario evaluation, risk management and optimisation of long‑term value across multiple Life‑of‑Mine options.
• Coordinate and review capital AFE submissions to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and infrastructure priorities.
• Provide planning inputs for capital and operating design activities, including sequencing, timing and infrastructure dependencies.
• Mentor engineers, deliver technical training and support succession planning for sustainable long‑term planning capability.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years’ experience in Life‑of‑Mine planning, with at least three years in a senior supervisory role.
• Valid Ghanaian manual driver’s licence and ability to work underground as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Deswik CAD.
• Proficiency with Deswik Scheduler.
• Experience using IS and UGDB modules.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong PowerPoint presentation abilities.
