Station Accountant – Ghana Station

About the role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a Ghanaian national to serve as the Station Accountant for its Ghana Station. The role involves managing the station’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and control Oracle EBS modules (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, I‑Expense, Fixed Assets).
- Monitor budgets, prepare periodic financial reports and conduct general ledger reconciliations.
- Supervise accounts assistants, expense claim processing, procurement payments and payroll preparation.
- Ensure accurate tax filings, statutory payments (PAYE, SSF) and timely bank reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Train newly recruited staff on IITA financial policies and procedures.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a professional qualification (CA, ACCA, etc.).
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in an international NGO or similar environment.
- Strong command of English and excellent communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
Required skills
- Oracle EBS (AP, AR, I‑Expense, Fixed Assets) proficiency.
