Technical Specialist – GIS (Monitoring & Evaluation)

About the role

The University of Cape Coast, in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture, seeks a Technical Specialist to support the Monitoring, Evaluation and Technical Support Services (METSS) program. The specialist will focus on establishing and maintaining a Geographic Information System (GIS) that underpins the program’s Information and Knowledge Management component.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a GIS information‑sharing strategy that engages stakeholders, partners and participants.
• Mentor the Monitoring & Results Reporting (MRR) and Information & Knowledge Management (IKM) specialists to build basic GIS competencies.
• Assist implementing partners in linking indicator data to spatial databases for mapping purposes.
• Provide technical support for the creation and enhancement of a GIS database to strengthen the Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s Statistics, Research and Information Directorate.
• Conduct consultations with relevant stakeholders to ensure GIS outputs meet program needs.

Required profile

• Background in GIS, geography, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience supporting monitoring and evaluation activities, preferably in agricultural or food‑security contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical specialists, partners and government agencies.
