Accounting Officer (Independent Contractor) – Accra

About the role

AA Strategy Consulting and Associates is seeking an experienced Accounting Officer to join the team on an independent contract basis. Based in Accra, the officer will support the firm’s growth strategy by delivering high‑quality financial and tax services to clients, particularly within the cocoa sector.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial reports for internal and client use.
• Compile and submit client tax returns to the Ghana Revenue Authority.
• Source new business and promote financing programmes for licensed cocoa buyers.
• Assist in marketing and compliance for premium natural cocoa products.
• Support the Tax Connect programme, including tax education, compliance initiatives and media talk‑shows.
• Develop proposals and deliver auditing and internal audit services as part of business expansion.
• Oversee bookkeeping services aligned with the growth strategy.
• Create investment appraisal models and evaluate financing strategies for clients.
• Report directly to the Associate Partner.

Required profile

• Accounting degree with a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA or CA Ghana).
• Expertise in taxation, auditing and financial management.
• Minimum five years of experience in accounting and finance across multiple industries.
• Strong understanding of Ghanaian regulatory and tax compliance; knowledge of the cocoa industry and African Development Bank operations is a plus.
• Computer literate, strategic business‑development mindset, and willingness to travel as needed.
• Proven ability to write and review proposals, supervise staff and transfer skills.
• Self‑starter, goal‑oriented, able to work with minimal supervision and manage pressure.
