Assistant Director of Library Services

About the role

Ashesi University is looking for an Assistant Director of Library Services to manage its Library and Information Services, including financial, physical, electronic and human resources, to the satisfaction of the university community. The role reports to the Provost and covers the Warren Library, which provides print and digital resources, study spaces and technology.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and promote electronic and physical collections, including usage monitoring and procurement
• Promote information, data and AI literacy among students, faculty and staff
• Support research and publication for students, academics and researchers
• Manage library staff and work-study students, including performance management
• Monitor and evaluate Library and Information Services
• Manage library finances, including budget priorities, fund allocation and expenditure monitoring
• Represent the library internationally and nationally, and maintain professional knowledge and publish research on information science and librarianship

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in information studies or a related field
• 6 to 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a library, preferably at a managerial level
• At least five professional publications
• Team management experience in a library or information setting and strategy-setting

Required skills

• Familiarity with electronic databases and web-based services
• Excellent oral and written communication and customer care skills
