Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the finance and procurement function in Accra, ensuring accurate property accounting, compliance with tax legislation, and robust financial reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role supports audits, budgeting, and strategic financial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards, Ghana tax laws, and internal Kempinski policies.
• Prepare payroll in line with Ghana Labour Law.
• Supervise, coach, and allocate tasks to the accounting team.
• Assist month‑end closing, journal entries, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Provide financial reports and analysis to other department managers.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and internal control maintenance.
• Communicate discrepancies and potential issues to the Assistant Controller.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in hotel accounting.
• 2+ years in an accounting management position.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle high‑volume transactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Experience with accounting software (specific systems a plus).
