Clinical Specialist – HIV Care & Laboratory Services

About the role

The Clinical Specialist will support integrated HIV clinical care and laboratory services across the EpiC Ghana project sites, working closely with national health authorities, regional and district health directorates, and implementing partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor HIV treatment, viral load, PrEP, PMTCT, EID and TB/HIV diagnostic services.
• Provide technical and quality‑assurance support to health facilities, ensuring consistent availability of ARVs, test kits and other commodities.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives, strengthen clinical‑laboratory coordination and oversee supply‑chain activities.
• Develop and facilitate clinical and laboratory training, prepare technical reports and contribute to work‑plan and budget development.
• Review performance data, track key indicators such as ART retention and viral‑load suppression, and implement corrective action plans.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor with specialization in family medicine, infectious diseases, internal medicine or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in HIV‑care program management, including at least 5 years supervising implementation.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems (EMR, E‑Sante, PLR) and handling viral‑load, PCR, TB and other diagnostic results.
• Previous work with USAID or PEPFAR‑supported programs and familiarity with Ghana’s public‑health sector.

Required skills

• Proficiency in EMR, E‑Sante and PLR platforms.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Technical capacity‑strengthening, mentoring and coaching abilities.
