Conference & Banqueting Sales Manager

About the role

The Conference & Banqueting Sales Manager oversees all aspects of banquet and event operations, from set‑up and menu selection to service and clean‑up, ensuring high‑quality presentation and exceptional customer service. This senior position drives sales, manages staff, and guarantees financial performance in a 5‑star hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Generate banquet business through active selling to meet or exceed revenue targets.
• Monitor competitor pricing and promotions to stay competitive.
• Plan, organize and process function bookings, maintaining accurate records.
• Conduct weekly coordination meetings with kitchen and support departments.
• Keep banquet menus and rates current in collaboration with the F&B Manager.
• Ensure all contractual agreements are signed before events.
• Recruit, train, coach, and discipline banquet staff; prepare weekly rosters.
• Secure upfront payment for functions and manage client credit approvals.
• Achieve budgeted food‑and‑beverage revenue while controlling costs.
• Enforce fire, emergency, and health‑and‑safety procedures for staff.

Required profile

• BSc in Hospitality Management or HND in Hotel Management.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role within a 5‑star hotel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong knowledge of cooking, serving styles, beverage menus and banquet set‑up configurations.
• Excellent sales and closing abilities.
• Understanding of staffing guidelines for conferences and banquets.
• Ability to assess customer needs, meet quality standards and evaluate satisfaction.
