Contracts Specialist – Site Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Contracts Specialist – Site Facilities Maintenance will support the Obuasi Gold Mine redevelopment by managing contracts, monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety and environmental policies. The role focuses on maximising plant availability while controlling costs and operational risks.

Key responsibilities

• Apply total quality management principles to achieve zero‑defect objectives and maintain safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Monitor surface infrastructure progress, gather data and prepare compliance reports.
• Conduct audits of process plant and facilities equipment maintenance.
• Review contract refurbishment and maintenance activities to identify continuous‑improvement actions.
• Provide recommendations to the Engineering Manager and Superintendent on contractor performance.
• Collate and verify contractor checks, perform regular and spot inspections, and analyse maintenance data trends.
• Generate work requests in SAP for maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Diagnose contractor work quality and timeliness, and enforce contract adherence.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities, propose savings projects and halt unsafe contractor activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or a related field.
• Commercial and project‑management experience, with relevant courses.
• Paralegal qualification is an advantage.
• Proven experience in contract management within a mining or industrial environment.

Required skills

• SAP for work request creation and scheduling.
• Data analysis for monitoring and trend reporting.
