Corporate Credit Manager - Business Banking

About the role

Absa is hiring a Corporate Credit Manager for its Business Banking team in Accra. The role acts as the credit expert for nominated Relationship Managers, supporting a defined portfolio of high-value, complex and sophisticated customers and serving as the conduit to Credit for sanctioning purposes.

Key responsibilities

• Credit risk management (60%): assess customers' businesses through analysis of business and credit risks, develop high-quality credit solutions to obtain fast approval, prepare credit applications with supporting documents for recommendation to the sanctioned authority, and monitor portfolio quality using Condition of Sanction triggers in line with internal guidelines.
• Business risk (20%): work with Relationship Managers on new and existing applications, advise on credit appetite, attend credit-related customer meetings, and help embed change management initiatives.
• Team working (10%): maintain close working relationships with Relationship Managers and Credit Managers.
• Risk and control (10%): ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa policies.
• Develop practical credit solutions such as lending structures, deliver consistent credit applications and recommendations, and keep credit reporting accurate and up to date.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Business, Commerce or Management Studies (required).
• Top graduate calibre with a passion for creating a legacy.
• Sound understanding of the banking sector, credit management and of Absa Bank Ghana's strategies and objectives.
• Awareness of local and regulatory guidelines.

Required skills

• Risk assessment, analytical and numerate skills (acquired through credit courses).
• Interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Awareness of credit programs and IT skills.
