Crane Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Crane Operations Supervisor will oversee crane and rigging activities at Newmont’s Ahafo North mine, ensuring safe and efficient operations in support of mining production. This role combines hands‑on equipment management with team leadership to maintain high safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee crane and rigging activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Administer crane and rigging operations, implementing safety protocols.
• Maintain routine maintenance and conduct regular inspections of all crane and rigging equipment.
• Collect, analyse and report data on crane and rigging performance.
• Support troubleshooting and resolve equipment issues promptly.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimise operational efficiency.
• Schedule and complete crane and rigging tasks, providing procedures to new employees.
• Assess risks, implement mitigation measures and continuously monitor safety hazards.

Required profile

• BSc/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, MVT II or equivalent.
• Crane Operator Certification of Competency.
• 6‑8 years of crane operation experience in a process plant or large‑scale multi‑pit operation.
• 2‑3 years of supervisory experience.
• Equipment Operating License (E&F) is essential.

Required skills

• Crane operation (mobile, crawler, rough‑terrain, overhead).
• Telehandler operation.
• Elevated work platform (EWP) operation.
• Crane‑mounted truck (Hiab) operation.
• Crane calibration using load cells.
• Maintenance principles and planning/scheduling.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
