Credit Recoveries Manager

About the role

The Credit Recoveries Manager will lead the bank’s Credit Recovery Unit, overseeing all activities aimed at recovering outstanding loans and managing related legal processes. Reporting to the Head of Credit, the role is pivotal in safeguarding the bank’s assets and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Credit Recovery Unit, ensuring effective daily operations.
• Develop and obtain approval for comprehensive recovery plans and strategies.
• Coordinate with the Credit, Micro‑finance, and branch management teams on recovery initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of recoveries, legal filings, and court documents.
• Work closely with the bank’s legal counsel on credit matters and court cases.
• Handle credit referencing processes and prepare regular recovery reports (weekly, monthly, yearly).
• Recommend and develop training programmes for recovery staff.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Statistics, Banking & Finance or professional qualification such as ACCA II or ACIB.
• Minimum five years of experience in a financial institution, with strong knowledge of the Lenders and Borrowers Act and the Credit Reporting Act (2007).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of working independently and as a team player.
