Director, Legon Centre for International Affairs & Diplomacy

About the role

The University of Ghana seeks a senior academic leader to head the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD). Reporting to the Provost of the College of Humanities, the Director will shape the centre’s strategic direction, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhance its international profile.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and governance for LECIAD in line with university statutes and policies.
• Oversee the design, delivery, and quality assurance of approved programmes and research activities.
• Manage human, financial, and material resources, ensuring efficient administration.
• Promote interdisciplinary teaching, learning and research across arts, social sciences, business and law.
• Develop and maintain international networks and partnerships.
• Secure external funding for research and development projects.

Required profile

• Professorial status or equivalent senior academic/research experience, or senior industry professional eligible for the role.
• Demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, research and extension within relevant disciplines.
• Proven managerial and administrative capability with a collegial approach.
• Track record of attracting research funding and driving centre growth.
