Director of Allied Health

About the role

The Board of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) seeks a senior leader to provide strategic direction, coordination and expert advice for its Allied Health Services. The role will shape short‑, medium‑ and long‑term plans, oversee budgets and ensure high‑quality clinical care across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and guide the development of short, medium and long‑term plans and budgets for Allied Health Services.
• Develop and implement governance, infection‑control and quality‑assurance systems for Allied Health Science.
• Support, monitor and evaluate programs and projects to enhance clinical care effectiveness.
• Design systems for reviewing interventions, financing and resource allocation.
• Lead the development and management of clinical information systems.
• Implement sustainable clinical‑care field programmes.
• Supervise technical support for Allied Health activities and partner implementations.
• Ensure robust monitoring, evaluation and reporting mechanisms.
• Achieve strategic goals through effective leadership and management of Allied Health Services.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Allied Health Science (plus a first degree in a relevant Allied Health field).
• Specialty registration with the Ghana Allied Health Professionals Council.
• Post‑graduate qualification in the primary profession or health administration/management.
• Minimum 10 years of Allied Health experience, including at least 5 years in a senior management role.
• Current Deputy Chief/Deputy Director grade or equivalent.
• Certification in Health Leadership and Management or Public Administration.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, advocacy and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with clinical information systems and general computer literacy.
