Director of Directorate of Information and Communication Technology

About the role

The University of Cape Coast invites applications for the position of Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICTS), which will become vacant from 1 August 2026. The Director is the head of the Directorate and reports to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar, overseeing the effective functioning of the Directorate within the University.

Key responsibilities

• Develop policies, programmes and schedules covering privacy and security for academic and administrative information processing and computer services.
• Develop, direct and manage the University's computing and IT strategic plans.
• Provide leadership for building a progressive IT environment across the University and its satellite campuses.
• Oversee IT investment, advise senior management on strategic systems conversion and integration, and oversee IT architecture, technology standards and best practices.
• Ensure appropriate IT infrastructure is identified and installed, such as network software, storage systems, IT security, server platforms, communication lines and equipment.
• Work with University Management on implementing new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software.

Required profile

• An MBA, M.Sc., M.Phil. or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Telecommunications, Management Information Systems or a related field.
• Membership in good standing of a relevant and recognized professional body.
• Experience as a Deputy Director in a university.
• At least ten years of post-qualification experience as a Senior Member.

The position is full-time, with a six-year term renewable once more for six years, provided the candidate has not reached the statutory retiring age.
