E&I Supervisor – Winder (Contract)

About the role

The E&I Supervisor – Winder is responsible for supervising inspection, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of winder and shaft electrical, instrumentation and control systems across surface and underground mining operations. The role aims to maximise reliability, minimise downtime and ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory regulations and mine safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance of winder and shaft motors, VFDs/VSDs, switchgear and power distribution systems.
• Oversee PLC, SCADA, instrumentation and communication systems, including calibration and testing.
• Maintain shaft signalling and interlocking systems and ensure integrity of protection and emergency power systems.
• Lead troubleshooting of automation and control systems and coordinate electrical inspections.
• Manage E&I personnel and contractors, prepare maintenance reports, test records, risk assessments and work permits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years relevant experience, or Diploma in Engineering (E&I/Electrical) with 5 years experience, or Technician Part III Certificate with 5 years experience.
• Minimum 5–8 years practical experience in winder and shaft electrical, instrumentation and control maintenance, including supervisory experience.
• Relevant certifications such as MINCOM, mine safety supervisory, lifting and hoisting competency and permit‑to‑work system training are highly desirable.
