Electrical Technician (MV) – Surface Mine Infrastructure

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks an experienced Electrical Technician (MV) to support the surface mine infrastructure. The role involves maintaining high‑voltage (HV) electrical systems, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery for mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform HV electrical maintenance on incoming Ghana Electric feed, distribution networks, transformers, motors and generator sets.
• Execute electrical refurbishment tasks and on‑call breakdown repairs in compliance with Ghana government and AGAG regulations.
• Conduct daily pre‑start checks of tools and equipment, report and escalate any anomalies.
• Coordinate with contractors and construction teams for mechanical and electrical refurbishment work.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner and close work orders in SAP upon task completion.

Required profile

• Secondary education level with a recognized HV electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years post‑apprenticeship experience in an HV industrial environment.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Fully literate, numerate and competent in electrical trade practices.
