Electrical Technician – Process Plant

About the role

The Electrical Technician – Process Plant will join the Electrical team at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi mine, supporting the refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of the plant’s electrical systems. Working on a rotating day/night shift, the role ensures safe, compliant operation of all electrical equipment in a fully mechanised underground mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical refurbishment and preventive maintenance on process‑plant equipment in accordance with Ghanaian regulations and AGAG standards.
• Conduct daily pre‑start checks of tools and equipment, report and escalate any anomalies.
• Coordinate with contractors and construction teams to plan and execute electrical work packages.
• Maintain accurate work records and close work orders in SAP, providing data to the Maintenance Planner.
• Follow the site Environmental Management Plan and health‑safety procedures, stopping work when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Participate in required training and development activities.

Required profile

• Secondary education with a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship certificate (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five years post‑apprenticeship experience in electrical maintenance or refurbishment.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Fully literate and numerate, with proven competence in the electrical trade.
