Electrical Technician – Winders

About the role

The Electrical Technician – Winders will join AngloGold Ashanti’s modernised underground mining operation in Obuasi. The role focuses on the maintenance, refurbishment and safe operation of winding equipment, associated lighting, signals and related plant.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electrical refurbishment and routine maintenance on winders, winder houses, shaft bank areas, dewatering and conveyor systems.
• Perform daily pre‑start checks of tools and equipment and report any anomalies.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams to coordinate mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Maintain accurate work‑order data in SAP and support the Maintenance Planner.
• Ensure all activities comply with Ghana government regulations, AGAG safety standards and LI2182 requirements.

Required profile

• Secondary education level with a certified mechanical/electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years post‑apprenticeship experience working on winding equipment in an electrical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulation.
• Full literacy and numeracy.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on winding equipment.
• Use of SAP for work‑order management.
• Crane safe‑operation knowledge.
• Understanding of LI2182 compliance and Ghana mining safety regulations.
• Ability to conduct equipment pre‑start checks and report issues.
