Electrical Technician – Winders (Obuasi Mine)

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and is looking for an experienced Electrical Technician to maintain and refurbish the mine’s winding systems. The role involves working on winders, winder houses, lighting, signals, de‑watering and conveyor equipment in a safe, compliant manner.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical refurbishment and routine maintenance on winders, winder houses, shaft bank lighting, signals and related conveyor systems.
• Carry out daily pre‑start equipment and tool checks and report any anomalies.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams to coordinate mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Prepare checklists, transport required tools and ensure all work follows Ghanaian government and AGAG safety regulations, including LI2182.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner and close work orders in SAP upon completion.

Required profile

• Secondary education and a certified mechanical/electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• At least five years of post‑apprenticeship experience working on winding equipment.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Ability to work safely in a mining environment and accept personal responsibility for health and safety.

Required skills

• Electrical trade competence and maintenance of winding equipment.
• Use of SAP for work‑order management.
• Safe operation of cranes and related lifting equipment.
