Engine Field Service Technician

About the role

Cummins Inc. is looking for an Engine Field Service Technician / Engine Workshop Technician for its Service Operations Department in Ghana. You will deliver diagnosis, repair, overhaul and rebuilds on complex engine products at customer sites, acting as the primary technical specialist and trusted customer contact.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, overhaul and rebuild complex engines at customer sites, keeping downtime low and equipment available.
• Support customers on complex field issues and build strong, productive customer relationships.
• Use specialized tools, documented procedures and company policies to carry out repairs and preventative maintenance safely and accurately.
• Escalate unresolved technical issues with product specialists or supervisors.
• Coach and support technicians and apprentices through knowledge transfer, work direction and review of repair plans.
• Complete service documentation such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims and quality records.
• Identify additional service and sales opportunities while following health, safety and environmental policies and keeping vehicles and tools to a high standard.

Required profile

• Apprentice-trained engine technician (preferred).
• Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
• Locally valid driving permit.
• Basic field service work experience and intermediate knowledge of engine products.
• Customer service experience.
• The position may require licensing for export control or sanctions compliance.

Required skills

• Strong diagnostics: turning customer complaints into troubleshooting plans, using guided workflows and mechanical/electronic tools, and documenting outcomes in business systems.
• Proficiency with electronic service tools and software.
• In-depth understanding of engine systems, using service publications, measurements and OEM documentation.
• Disciplined execution of quality repairs, maintenance, documentation and technical escalation.
