Explosives Specialist (Blastman) – Mining Operations

About the role

The Blastman, Explosives will manage all explosive transactions and ensure compliance with mining regulations at the Obuasi Gold Mine. This full‑time position supports safe, efficient blasting operations and environmental stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct critical controls review for explosives‑related activities and participate in supervisor workplace visits and inspections.
• Assess risks for all tasks, maintain zero incidents, and ensure 100% compliance with OHS KPIs.
• Maintain accurate explosives records in the Explosive Logbook and ensure magazine stock complies with regulations.
• Report incidents, hazards, and corrective actions, and follow up to close them on time.

Required profile

• SSCE and a Certificate of Competency in Blasting.
• At least 3 years’ experience in underground mining operations.

Required skills

• Blasting and explosives handling.
• Stock control and transaction recording in a magazine.
• Risk assessment and hazard identification.
