Faculty - Database Systems and Software Development

About the role

Ashesi University, a non-profit multidisciplinary university in Ghana, is seeking faculty with expertise in Database Systems and Software Development to join its Computer Science and Information Systems Department. Faculty help shape the curriculum, strengthen teaching and learning, and contribute to research and supervision of undergraduate projects.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field; a master's degree with relevant teaching experience will also be considered for adjunct lecturers.
• Willingness to work in teams to develop and deliver an innovative, world-class curriculum.
• Willingness to teach in a participatory environment with hands-on approaches.
• Willingness to engage in research and supervise undergraduate projects.
• Familiarity with the liberal arts method of instruction; an undergraduate education at a liberal arts college is a plus.

Required skills

• Ability to design and teach three or more of: Database Systems, Advanced Database Systems, Web Technologies (full-stack), Mobile Application Development, Software Engineering, Agile Software Engineering Methods, Software Measurement and Testing.
• Strong programming skills, preferably in at least two languages, and web application development skills (server-side scripting and/or full stack).
• Experience developing real-world software systems.
• Demonstrated capability with computer technology and excellent written and verbal communication.
