Fante Language Tutor (Remote, Contract)

About the role

Ayekoo Afrique is an online platform for learning African languages, where students take live 1-on-1 lessons with a tutor of their choice and practise in the Ayekoo app. It is looking for Fante tutors to teach adult heritage learners in Houston, London and Toronto. The role is remote and consists of two paid parts: teaching and short-form video content.

Key responsibilities

• Teach live 1-on-1 lessons on Google Meet, booked week by week around your availability, using a curriculum of practical topics
• Use a communicative method: students speak from the first session, vocabulary comes from real situations and grammar is explained when needed
• Produce short videos for TikTok and Instagram (about 2-3 per month), such as a phrase, a proverb or a common mistake, and appear in the app with your name

Required profile

• Native or near-native Fante; speaking both Fante and English fluently is a bonus
• Genuine energy on camera and comfort being filmed and published
• Availability for some evenings and weekends in GMT, as students are mostly in the US and UK
• An existing TikTok, Instagram or YouTube presence is an advantage
• Teaching experience is welcome but not required

Required skills

• Laptop or smartphone with a working camera, and a quiet, reasonably lit place to teach and film
• Stable internet connection

What we offer

• Pay per lesson at an agreed hourly rate, currently from $10, rising to $15 with content work
• Earnings accumulate in an Ayekoo balance and can be withdrawn by bank transfer once it reaches $50
• Scheduling, bookings and payments are handled by the platform

To apply, use the single application form on the Ayekoo Afrique teaching page, which asks for a 45-60 second unscripted video uploaded as an unlisted YouTube video.
