Field Support Specialist (Freelance / Dispatch)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Freelance Field Support Specialist to deliver on‑site IT assistance when our full‑time engineers are unavailable or during dispatch activities. The role involves hands‑on support for desktops, laptops, peripherals and meeting‑room technologies across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site support for desktops, laptops and peripheral devices.
• Install, configure and maintain hardware and software according to organizational standards.
• Perform IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) activities for IT assets.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including break‑fix support.
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for repairs, replacements and escalations.
• Manage IT inventory, asset tracking and documentation.
• Create system images for laptops and desktops.
• Set up and troubleshoot printers and network printers.
• Assist with conference‑room AV setup and meeting‑room technologies.
• Provide high‑touch VIP/end‑user support.
• Support Office 365 issues and general user account problems.
• Install and troubleshoot compliance/security software.
• Support both Windows and macOS devices.
• Adhere to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and document incidents.
• Participate in after‑hours activities, events and recurring meetings as needed.

Required profile

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in inventory management and vendor coordination.
• Flexibility to respond to after‑hours and dispatch requirements.

Required skills

• Desktop and laptop troubleshooting.
• Hardware installation, configuration and peripheral support.
• Basic networking knowledge (DHCP, DNS, LAN connectivity).
• Printer and network printer setup and troubleshooting.
• Office 365 administration and support.
• System imaging for Windows and macOS devices.
• Compliance and security software installation.
• Asset inventory management.
