Field Support Specialist – Freelance (On-site IT)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Field Support Specialist to deliver on‑site IT assistance for our offices in Kumasi and the wider Ashanti Region. This freelance, part‑time position supports end‑users when full‑time engineers are unavailable or during dispatch activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site support for desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software according to company standards.
• Execute IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) tasks for IT assets.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including break‑fix support.
• Coordinate repairs and replacements with OEMs and vendors.
• Manage IT inventory, asset tracking, and documentation.
• Perform system imaging for laptops and desktops.
• Set up and troubleshoot printers, network printers, and AV equipment in conference rooms.
• Deliver high‑touch support for VIP users and assist with Office 365 and user account issues.
• Support Mac devices alongside Windows systems and ensure compliance/security software is operational.
• Document incidents, resolutions, and contribute to the knowledge base.
• Provide after‑hours support for events and recurring meetings as needed.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of desktop and laptop troubleshooting and configuration.
• Hands‑on experience with hardware support and peripheral devices.
• Basic networking understanding (DHCP, DNS, LAN connectivity).
• Experience with printer and network printer setup and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Office 365 support and user account management.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
