Finance & Compliance Officer

About the role

The Finance & Compliance Officer will ensure that the Spark Change‑Makers Project uses its resources responsibly and complies with EU donor requirements and Ghanaian regulations. Working closely with the Project Accountant and Project Coordinator, you will maintain accurate financial records, support budgeting and reporting, and guide partners in proper financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and support project budgeting and reporting.
• Ensure all transactions follow donor and organizational procedures.
• Guide project partners and sub‑grantees on financial compliance with EU and SOS standards.
• Review expenditures, verify supporting documentation, and confirm funds are used for intended purposes.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks, prepare for audits, and address audit findings promptly.
• Monitor partner financial performance, manage sub‑grants, and conduct financial reviews.
• Collaborate with the Project Accountant and Coordinator to provide financial updates and improve internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in finance, audit or compliance, preferably in a donor‑funded NGO.
• Strong knowledge of EU donor rules and Ghanaian accounting and tax regulations.
• Experience monitoring partners, managing sub‑grants, and conducting financial reviews.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
