Financial Analyst (Level 2)

About the role

The Church is looking for a Financial Analyst (Level 2) in Accra, Ghana, to support its financial management of donated funds used for its religious mission. The role prepares, analyzes and reviews financial statements and budgets, trains staff in financial principles, helps draft policies and procedures, and carries out internal reviews and some accounting functions. It works with operational and financial managers and supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze budgets and financial statements from operating statements, account ledgers, work order reports and project tracking systems.
• Anticipate future needs and analytically review budgets and financial statements.
• Reconcile appropriation and cash flow budgets to the general ledger and ensure correct coding and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Identify trends and areas of concern, initiate basic adjustments and report actions.
• Prepare management reports, investigate alternatives and create reports, charts and graphs showing findings.
• Recommend adjustments and perform on-site internal control reviews, including cost studies, overhead analysis and savings analysis for data processing equipment.
• Review documents on appropriation or transfer of budgets and work with division managers to resolve differences.
• Prepare financial procedures and advise or train less experienced analysts; other projects as assigned.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management.
• 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, business management or a related field.
• Understanding of accounting principles and Church accounting systems.
• Ability to learn new software, excellent interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication.
• Fluency in English; strong knowledge of tax, labor and legal issues preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and automated accounting and reporting software.
• Power BI, Tableau or similar preferred.
• ICAG, ACCA, CIMA or CPA qualification preferred.
