Forklift Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Forklift Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping a fleet of forklifts operating safely and efficiently. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs both in the workshop and on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance according to manufacturer schedules.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using appropriate tools.
• Repair or replace components such as brakes, steering, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, batteries, and motors.
• Inspect forklifts for safety compliance and operational requirements.
• Conduct functional tests after repairs to verify proper operation.
• Service tires, chains, bearings, and other moving parts.
• Record all maintenance activities, parts used, and inspections in logs or computerized systems.
• Recommend or order replacement parts and help maintain spare‑parts inventory.
• Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments in good condition.
• Provide guidance to operators on proper use, daily inspections, and basic preventive maintenance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical certificate or vocational training in Mechanical, Automotive, Heavy Equipment, or Industrial Maintenance.
• 2–5 years hands‑on experience maintaining forklifts or similar material‑handling equipment.
• Good knowledge of preventive‑maintenance programs and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including overtime or emergency call‑outs.

Required skills

• Mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic system knowledge.
• Use of diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Preventive maintenance procedures.
• Repair of brakes, steering, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, batteries and motors.
• Reading technical manuals in English.
