Fractional Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) – Part‑time

About the role

CPayant is seeking a seasoned compliance professional to serve as its Fractional Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) on a part‑time, consultant basis. The role is based in Accra and requires direct interaction with Ghanaian regulators and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the designated MLRO with the Bank of Ghana and the Financial Intelligence Centre, maintaining all statutory records.
• Design, implement and maintain risk‑based AML/CFT policies for cross‑border and stable‑coin transactions.
• Oversee Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes for SME and individual clients.
• Monitor transactions, investigate suspicious activity and file STRs and Activity Reports via the goAML portal.
• Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory examinations, audits and fit‑and‑proper assessments.
• Support licensing applications and compile required documentation.
• Provide regular risk assessments and AML/CFT training to the Board, CEO and internal teams.

Required profile

• Resident in Ghana with ability to meet regulators in person.
• Proven experience as an MLRO, Deputy MLRO or senior compliance officer in fintech, payments, banking or virtual‑asset services.
• Deep knowledge of Ghana’s AML Act 2020 (Act 1044) and BoG/FIC guidelines.
• Hands‑on experience filing reports through goAML and building risk‑scoring frameworks from scratch.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced startup environment.
