Geologist – Exploration and Data Analysis

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Geologist to execute and supervise exploration work programs in Ghana, supporting the Ahafo South and Ahafo North mines. The role involves designing exploration plans, monitoring performance, and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Execute allocated exploration work programs safely and in line with approved objectives.
• Design, supervise, and monitor exploration activities against KPIs.
• Supervise contractor work to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Deliver training and mentoring to junior geologists.
• Develop, plan and schedule work activities over 3‑month to 1‑year timeframes.
• Compile, assess and interpret analytical results and produce reports.
• Assist with preparation of budgets, long‑term work programs and business plans.
• Report program progress and follow up on recommendations.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Geological Science (or related field) with registration or eligibility for registration.
• 0‑2 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and practical judgement.
• Competent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and provide leadership when required.

Required skills

• Competency in designing exploration programs and portfolio management.
• Ability to analyse complex geological data and derive insights.
• Proficiency with data‑visualisation tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
• Experience with resource modelling software.
