Head of Credit

About the role

The Head of Credit will lead the credit function of Coastal Commerce Microfinance Ltd, shaping credit strategy and overseeing loan portfolio performance across Takoradi and the Western Region. This senior position reports to senior management and drives risk‑aware lending practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective credit management strategies.
• Supervise appraisal and assessment of loan applications, ensuring decisions are based on sound financial and risk analysis.
• Monitor the institution’s loan portfolio, identify emerging credit risks, and review credit proposals for approval.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies and lending procedures.
• Oversee loan monitoring, recovery activities, and analysis of portfolio performance, delinquency levels, and recovery trends.
• Develop strategies to minimise non‑performing loans and credit losses.
• Prepare regular credit performance reports for management.
• Provide guidance and support to credit officers and other lending staff.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline; professional qualifications are a plus.
• 5–7 years of relevant credit or banking experience.
• Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment and portfolio management.
• High ethical standards, integrity and strong leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Understanding of regulatory, corporate governance and risk management requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure, deliver results and collaborate within a senior management team.
