Health and Safety Manager

About the role

The Health and Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Sunda International’s HSE management system across its manufacturing operations in Accra and Tema.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures and annual objectives, ensuring compliance with Ghanaian occupational health and safety laws.
• Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses and regular safety inspections across production, warehouse, maintenance and logistics areas.
• Lead investigations of accidents, near‑misses and incidents, identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Design and deliver safety training, inductions and emergency drills for employees and contractors.
• Manage the HSE team, set KPIs, provide coaching and collaborate with production, engineering, HR and other departments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• 5–8 years of HSE experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of Ghana occupational health and safety regulations and ISO 45001 standards.

Required skills

• Risk assessment, incident investigation and emergency response expertise.
• Proficiency with HSE KPIs such as LTIFR, TRIR, lost‑time injury and near‑miss tracking.
• Certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, First Aid and Fire Safety (preferred).
