Health, Safety and Environment Officer

About the role

Drill Force Services Ltd (DFSL), a drilling services company in Ghana's mining industry, is hiring a full-time, on-site Health, Safety and Environment Officer in Accra. The role implements and monitors HSE policies across the company's operations, with a focus on safe working conditions, incident prevention and minimising environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor health, safety and environmental policies across operations
• Conduct risk assessments, site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulations
• Develop and maintain HSE procedures, and deliver safety inductions and training
• Promote a proactive safety culture among all site personnel
• Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
• Track the implementation of improvement measures and support emergency preparedness
• Collaborate with operational teams and contribute to continuous improvement in occupational health, workplace safety and environmental performance

Required profile

• Experience applying HSE skills in industrial or mining environments
• Competencies in EHS and occupational health, including risk assessment and hazard control
• NEBOSH or an equivalent recognised HSE certification, and a solid understanding of relevant HSE legislation and standards
• Relevant academic qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline is beneficial
• Experience conducting HSE training, audits and incident investigations, with clear reporting and documentation skills, is preferred
• Previous experience in mining or heavy industry, and familiarity with drilling operations, is a significant asset
