Rock Breaker Operator

About the role

Gold Fields Ghana is hiring an experienced and qualified Rock Breaker Operator for the Tarkwa Mine. The operator works safely and effectively within defined and approved procedures and policies, prioritising quality and quantity of work while carrying out daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate rock breaking equipment or machinery according to manufacturer specifications and company SOPs.
• Maintain a good and safe working surface for mining operations.
• Help solve operational and human-related challenges using acquired knowledge and experience.
• Contribute regularly to cost-saving practices and productivity improvements on assigned mining projects.
• Report any unsafe acts or situations to supervisors at all times and carry out other operational duties after adequate training.

Required profile

• Basic Education Certificate or Middle School Leaving Certificate (MSLC) or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of work experience in a surface mining environment.
• Certificate of competence in the safe use of rock breaking equipment and machinery.
• Valid Ghanaian professional driver's licence "E".
• Good understanding of operational activities and mining health and safety procedures.
• Ability to take initiative, take responsibility and manage tasks through to completion.
